Out of Frame 6/22/15

If people believe you had a good time then you did. She is always connected. She knows the right angle for her phone to take the best selfie. Every photo is perfect, or its redone. Every filter is a choice, to suit her mood. She speaks in 140 characters or less. Most often times it is less.

Most importantly she knows how to have a good time. That’s what her followers say. Every time she drinks she lets the world know. She captures the perfect angle of the drink, so as not to let the sadness, or desperation leak into frame. If it does we crop and filter.

So many likes, reblogs, thumbs ups and favorites, a myriad of validation tools to fuel the dream that some day she is going to be famous for doing absolutely nothing. The curse of a generation connected to a phone charger I V.

She does her hair and make up an hour before “waking up” and keeps the powder white lines of her coffee table out of frame. We control the focus, we create others perception.

If people believe you had a good time, then you did.
